Microsoft has added AI capabilities to the taskbars of Windows 11 and Windows 10 through a system update. The update follows the release of a new chatbot on Bing and Edge. Despite not having been previewed on the Windows Insider channel, users who have received the update will notice a new Bing icon on the taskbar, which allows quick access to the chatbot via Edge. This marks a significant update for Windows users, who will be able to access Bing’s chatbot features without having to leave their desktop or open a separate application.
The Bing chatbot is currently being tested by over a million users in 169 countries and is set to be released to more users before its official launch. The chatbot has already been integrated into Microsoft’s smartphone apps and Skype conversations and will soon be available in the Office package. Third-party developers have already created a plug-in for experimentation with the chatbot in Office. Furthermore, the Bing chatbot is expected to be released in the Phone Link app for iOS, which connects iPhones and iPads to Windows.
In addition to the chatbot, the update also improves the widget panel and optimizes the user experience on touch screen devices. With a new bar optimized for tablets, touch screen users can expect a more streamlined experience. Overall, Microsoft’s recent system update brings several significant updates to Windows users, including improved AI capabilities and streamlined user experience on touch screen devices.
