Google CEO Sundar Pichai said that people would “very soon” be able to “interact directly” with its “newest, most powerful model as a companion to search in experimental and innovative ways.
The Google Search will leverage Language Model for Dialogue Applications which is the company’s own language model. It will help the browser to provide factual and conversation query results. As per Pichai, the improved search can be introduced for testing in the coming weeks and months. It is expected that the development could take place during the Google IO 2023 event scheduled for May.

Pichai notes that the improved search should be available for testing in the “coming weeks and months.” This could be during the Google IO 2023 event in May, which is the company’s annual developer conference where it showcases new software and hardware.
During the earnings call, Pichai kept returning to the capabilities of AI and how the world is ready to use it, referring to the public’s positive response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. “AI is the most profound technology we are working on today,” Pichai said in his opening remarks. The executive announced that Google would also provide new tools and APIs for developers and partners to build their “own applications and discover new possibilities on AI.”
As per Pichai, the improved search can be introduced for testing in the coming weeks and months. It is expected that the development could take place during the Google IO 2023 event scheduled for May.
At the 2021 edition of Google IO, Google showcased the capabilities of the first-generation LaMDA; however, it soon courted controversy after a company engineer claimed that the conversational chatbot “is sentient.” The engineer also claimed that the LaMDA-powered chatbot could endorse some stereotypes, which some may view as racist and sexist. However, a report claimed that Google is working on LaMDA to fix these bugs and the company is also testing other chatbots amid the rising popularity of ChatGPT.
